Hyperlog to ADIF
file conversion utility V 2.1

Download SetupHL2A.exe  by clicking here. If the file tries to execute rather than download, right click the link and choose "Save as". After the download, double click it to install.

This utility reads a .dat or .txt file and converts it to ADIF format, including assigning an ADIF number.

Somewhere around V 4.x, the data file was changed so that the date and time are (to me) an unknown format. If the version you have has the capability to export as a text (ASCII) file, use that if the date is gibberish.

If your .dat file looks like this, select .dat when opening the input.
900603 0324 CT1AP/OJ0 59 59 20 14.176 SSB 1000 MARKET REEF Y N

If your .dat file looks like this
/ <x Y23DG 56 55 20 14.163 SSB 100 Rig Stassfurt GERMANY IC740 lin 250W 2 el mono Y Y
export as a text file so it looks like this.
"02/01/98","0903","G4JNH","59","59","20","14.117","SSB","100","Ron","ENGLAND","","","","","","0000","N","N","14","ENGLAND"

There are a couple of trouble areas in conversions of this type, and I make no guarantees that your log will be done 100% correctly. You are responsible for verifying the ADIF file BEFORE you import it into your logging program. The following cause an error record to be written.

  1. Call has a slash in it and each side is of equal length. (The shorter side is used for the lookup).

  2. Call resolves to a prefix which identifies more than one country.

  3. Call resolves to a prefix not in the database.

After installing HL2ADIF, use the Open log button to browse to your log. After selecting the .dat or .txt file, a second dialog will appear, so you can choose the output filename and location. The source and destination will be displayed. Select an input date format. Then click the Start button. When HL2ADIF is done, the counter will stop. If there were errors, you will be advised of their number, along with a prompt to review the error log. There should be enough information there to allow you to correct your log. If you un-install the program, be sure to move any files you want to save out of the directory first.
